When I flip this coin over the obverse and the reverse of this dime is not centered. Does it mean it's fake or is this common error?

Thanks.

Rotated reverses are one of the most ignored, missed, underpriced coin errors there is. For example the famous Red Book on pages 400 and up list numerous types of errors but a reverse rotated is not even mentioned. On many coin web sites that error is also ignored. Naturally I feel the main reason is unless you place a coin in a 2x2 or album with the obverse exactly up and down, the rotation of the reverse is usually missed since when you turn it over it is something you seldom notice. Unless it is exceptionally rotated, most people do not ever notice that. At coin shows I've made some great deals with some coin dealers that are not aware of this and when it is pointed out, they will usually drop the price. That is due to no listings or values noted anywhere for rotated reverses.
Now here is something to try to fugure out. If you place the reverse straight up and down, now the obverse is rotated. So does that coin have a rotated reverse or a rotated obverse?

Carl
