Can I rinse coins in either water, or alcohol, and not diminish thier value? Neither water nor alcohol should impact the metal. And can I apply some gentle finger movement, which should not put any abrasion on the coins. Some of the coins from circulation are so dirty I cannot clearly tell their wear. But I do not want to diminish any value ---- thanks.

Don't quote me on this, but i think water and a pat dry is okay. The alcohol i believe is not safe. But other members will definitely let you know what they think.
