I have been unsuccessful looking for the thread that shows what I should look for when sorting dimes.
I believe the silver is 1964 and earlier.
Anything else?
Thank You

You are correct about the date for 90% Ag Dimes. Also, when you look at the edge you only see Silver, no Copper sandwich. If you date sort keep anything before 1965 and the later dates if they have an "S" mint mark. That's about it, not to hard if you can see well enough.

| Also, there is a 1982 dime with NO mintmark error. It is worth I suppose, at least 1 hundred dollars. |

Hi Olgranddad,
I don't date search so this may not apply so much for your searches. Anyways, I get the whole batch of dime into a pile and out of the wraps. Then pick up as many as one hand can hold and make that pile into a column. It's very easy from this point to see the silver ones and toss the rest in the return pile. This isn't like looking for the 40% halves that can be a little less obvious to the unskilled eye, so starting each search using a silver dime as a reference in a pile of clads may help you until you are confident at picking out the silver dimes.
But if you choose to date search you may as well just look at the dates and keep 1964's or older.
GoodLuck!

Also, look at any Canadians you find. '68 and earlier are also Ag, the '66 and earlier being 80%. They do pop up on occasion, I have found quite a few.
A note on the '67 and '68s.
The '67s can be 80% or 50%, with no practical way to tell them apart.
The '68s can be either Ag or Ni. The easiest way to tell them apart is with a magnet. The magnet will stick to the Ni.

Don't forget proofs! Any 1965+ dime with an S mintmark is worth saving!
There's a 1996-W dime that's worth a notable amount if you can find one.
Edge searching will miss these S and W dimes.
