I just quickly hand-sorted a box before going to bed tonight and it was quite interesting. I found a counter-stamped "MN" (Minnesota) LMC, which is the first one I ever came across up here in Canada. I also found a 1916-S LMC, which may not be that rare but again consider that I'm sorting in Canada and only getting 2-3% US pennies in the first place...

Then, the best find of all - a *1923* King George V Canadian penny!!!

For those who are unfamiliar, this is THE KEY date Canadian small cent. The catalogue price for this coin ranges from about 40 bucks in VG condition to hundreds or even thousands of dollars in the upper end of the spectrum. Mine is definitely in the low range, but I was thrilled to find it regardless :)

Great find on the 23 King! Congratulations. A 1916-S LMC would be extremely rare. All of mine are Wheat cents. A good find nonetheless. About equivalent to a common date George V from the 20's.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Just funnin' with ya, eh.

I find very few Canadian coins down here in CA. I do find the occasional king in pennies or nickels though. Amazingly, sometimes you can buy them cheaply down here too. I bought some rolls of George V the other day at a coin show for $1.50 a roll.

I have a hole for that 23 if you decide you want to send it south. It is one of the only ones I need.

Sounds like a great idea. It will be going to a good home. I will PM you the address. PM me some rough ideas of what you collect and what holes you would like to fill so I don't send you stuff you already have.

Nice score - worth a few bucks and ya - the key date :)
