Hand sorting today and found in AU condition 1863 cwt with Army & Navy on reverse. Weighs 3.4grams but size appears to be the same as the regular coppers I collect. Haven't been able to determine who minted this design.

A picture would be helpful! Sounds like an intersting find.

What do you mean by cwt? (sorry it's late and that's not registering...lol)

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Yeah that's likely it. Amazing what a good night's sleep will do!

If the OP can post some pics, that would be great.

Awesome find!!

Even a common type in that kind of condition should be worth in excess of $20

CWT is indeed = Civil War Token

They are noted as "Patriotics" or "Store Cards"

Patriotics are as you guessed patriotic themed, while Store cards denote the issuers named town/store location.

wow, that sounds extremely awesome.

With it being found in the wild as an AU from 1863 what is the likelihood it is a recent/modern restrike?

Cool nonetheless!!

And hopefully it is worth a couple thousand!
