I think this link...

You must be logged in to see this link.

...goes nicely with the link I've had in my signature for some time:

You must be logged in to see this link.

And it reminds me a lot of this bit that I'm sure most of us have heard in various forms (I got this from You must be logged in to see this link.):

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

Then they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
I did not protest;
I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me.

Depending on the situation, we might want to give anonymously and in the dead of night, but I think this is something each of us needs to consider, because even despite all of our preparations, TS could still HTF in a way that even the most prepared among us might not anticipate. Forest fire destroying our bugout location? Flood destroying our basement full of preps? Earthquake destroying everything? What do you guys think?

Charity comes from the heart. When your neighbor is in need, an outflowing of help from you is the right thing to do. Compassion for others is the signpost of love for your fellow man.

I liked the link to Christian Charity on the Survival Blog:

"Charity with no strings attached is a powerful witness for God's love and for the gospel of Christ...Do your best to provide for those that are less fortunate and those that currently lack the foresight to stock up for potential bad times."

Have the bad times begun? If so, perhaps our compassion for others should become evident in our daily lives.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

This is a difficult subject for me. I agree with the concept of "giving until it hurts." However, my great fear is that things will get bad enough where I won't be able to help everybody I care about. While I think we can and should help as many as we can, I'm afraid each of us will have some tough choices to make.

Theo, I think "giving" can also include education about what people need to do before things get really bad: Buy cases of canned vegetables for now and heirloom seeds for later. Put away the TV dinners and buy a couple hundred pounds of bulk rice, beans and canned meats. Turn off the TV and start reading books on how to survive when the grid goes down. It's like the old saying, "If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day; if you teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime."
