SO I was searching Nicks tonight and come across this one.

Thoughts?

Wanted to add a few more shots to show that the die crack went 100% of the way across this nickel..

Looks like a die crack to me. I'm planning on buying a box or two of nickels just for fun to see what I can find. I don't think it's worth much, since most die cracks are considered defects and not collectibles. A interesting find for sure, though.

Hm...with it going through the whole coin, it definitely could be worth something. I'd list it on eBay to see how much you could get out of it. It's certainly worth more than 5 cents.

Oober...have you checked to see if this variation is listed in the Cherrypickers Guide Volume 1 (I think Volume 1 covers cents and nickels). You might have something there!

I have Volume 2 which covers half dimes and higher. I have to admit it's a really nice guide. I think I got mine for $24.95 but the list price on the back is $39.95. Maybe you can find one locally at a used bookstore or online at Amazon. I plan to pick up Volume 1 myself someday.
