I been noticing that premiums have not been increasing as silver moves down this time. BD catalog is offering $100 bags of 90% for $967; rounds are going for about $14. Do you think premiums will increase if silver goes down further? So far, I have seen no sign of it.
Has demand fallen off this time around?

| There appears to be lots of 90%, small bar or rounds physical silver on the market now. If silver drops more the supply will tighten up as more investors jump to buy and fewer sellers add to the supply. Thus higher premiums and maybe even a small bar physical silver shortage will appear again. But right now IMO, we are a long way away from that. |

Buying in the summer has tended to be the right time over recent years. Most don't though and do much of their buying latter in the year as the prices are well on there way up again. I tend to sell (some) late spring or very early summer and take profits. |

i wouldn't bet on higher premiums in the short run.
premiums really got out of hand starting about 18 months ago. its only been a few months now that they have come back down to earth.
about 5 years ago, i was buying ASE at 1.49 over and rounds at .79 over. premiums are still north of that but well below the level of 6 months ago.
for some reason, there was a long delay for the refineries to stamp out bars in small denominations. big bars were always available.
if you think about it, a refinery can buy 1000 ounce bars of silver at spot all day long. it doesn't cost that much to make smaller denomination bars. they were doing this profitably at the .79 per coin level 5 years ago, so why not now?
so the bigger mystery to me is why the premiums were inflated for so long, not why did they come back down. |
Buying: Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00 copper cents at 1.3X wheat pennies at 3X

| If we start seeing silver below the $12.50ish range than I think we will start to see high premiums again. |

I agree this may happen, depending on how much stock a dealer has. The velocity of the downswing is a huge key IMO. |

| Don't like the premiums, buy from a different dealer. The internet can solve supply and demand. |

Highroller,
Silver is at $12.57 right now. I see no sign of premiums. I think it's gonna be different this time. I think we will be buying 90% at spot all the way down (rounds/bars at small premium as always).
Tulving just raised their sell price by 30c, selling bags at 69c over spot. |
