Upon further inspection - weight = 10.5 grams and a seam along the edge. Virtually indistinguisable from a normal 40% half other than these things.

What a shame; a 40% silver has bit the dust.
I got the top half of one of these this week (bottom half long gone). It was a 1999. The inside of mine is toned copper colored; the inside of yours is beautiful silver. |

One has to wonder, why would somebody go through all that effort for no gain?
That coin is not a Canadian. Queen Elizabeth didn't arrive at the scene until '53. Canada went to the small cent in '20.
It is more than likely a U.K. penny. Could be Aussie, NZ or a host of other commonwealth countries that issued a large bronze cent.
Unfortunately somebody turned down that penny to make it fit in the halve shell. The rim has been machined off. It's just a hunk o' Cu now...
Not a complete loss though. That penny started life as a 9.4g, 95% coin. The equivalent of 3 U.S. cents.
Those shells are 80% Ag that weigh approximately 1g.

| The Elizabeth coin looks like a GB Pence from the '50s. |

| The coin is used for a routine called "Scotch & Soda", although there are many more tricks done with it. And it's worth considerably more than the 40% would have been. |

Really? Probably not worth more than a few $ right? I'll probably keep it for novelty sake, but I figured I could always offload it on someone when doing a 40% sale. |
