I went to a yard sale near me and a lady had a zip lock bag with some earrings in them. She told me she some of them were arked 14K so I decided to buy the bag (price $10)

The earrings were all marked 14K gold.
weight for all earrings- 8.9grams
weight of pure gold 5.18 grams
gold price per gram with gold at $939 per troy ounce or $30.19 per gram
total melt value $156.38
It was a nice buy for only ten bucks, but not as nice as smartinson's find.

Smartinson's find is the equivalent of the mother loade of yard/garage sale finds.

Very nice, Keys. I have not made it yet to check mine out but am still trying. Lots of grandbabies for summer vacation. 3 more coming Monday. What's gold when you can play with the grandkids.

Man I need to get out and start hitting those yard sales.

When I was little...late 70's.....my parents use to hit the yard sales early on sat mornings then set up at the flea market on sunday.

I watched them turn 100.00 into 400.00 many times.

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

My 2 best ever yard sale/flea market finds:

I found this watch at a yard sale.

It's a Swiss made Borel watch with a glass back so you could see the movement but it was missing the winding stem. I asked the lady what she wanted for it and she said $2. I gave it a good hard look and than gave her the $2. I had a watch maker friend put a new winding stem on it for about $5. I put it on ebay and sold it for $250

For my next best find I was at a flea market looking through a stack of old Popular Electronics magazines when I came across this one from July 1975.

It had an article about the very first personal computer you could buy. I remembered hearing something about this at the time it came out so bells were going off in my head. Again I asked the lady how much and she said 50 cents. Bought it, put it on ebay and sold it for $150

I just hit something like this. I bought a pair of speakers at a yard sale. They were 1100 new in 77. unfortunately they are only worth about a hundred and a half plus shipping on ebay today. But a great find for 10 bucks!

Hi all-

I've never had good luck at yard sales, but thrift stores are a good source for me. I found a $75 older computer game NEW! for $4. Also found a lot of good stuff at auction.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.
