First I wanted to ask you guys what you find more exciting to find when going through a nickel roll, a buffalo nickel, or a war nickel. I know most worn war nickels are worth more then the average buffalo you find because of the silver content, but I still find it more exciting to find a buffalo . What do you think?
Also, how come you can't do polls in this section?

I've found a number of war nickels and even a well-worn 1911 liberty head nickel, but I've never found a buffalo nickel. Therefore I'd have to lean toward the buffalo at this point. I picked up a few of them at the local flea market and think they are far more attractive than the war nickels. |

I get a bit more excited finding a Buffalo than a large mint mark on the reverse.

generally I get excited for both WN's and bufalos and find them in similar numbers but there is something about a full date buffalo that just looks so appealing. |

Hey Everybody!!
I just got my first buffalo nickel. Its a newer one from 2007. It came in my first half of a box I picked up in Sudbury today. Did 20 rolls of Canadian nickels & got 40 US nickels. The other 80 were mostly 99.99 nickels with 6 new Victory nickels. Also got 1-1940 & 1-1954 chrome plated nickel. I did pick up 2 X $25 boxes of pennys which I will get to later this week.
There is a metal detecter in Sudbury as some of the nickels I got looked a lot like the ones that I dig up once in a while at the local park & schools.
Happy hunting all!! |
Nice. Yes. Very nice. |

I have no real preference, any of them are cool to find. Heck, I'm happy if all I find is a couple of Ni Canadians.

A Buff, preferable a 1937-D, three-legged variety in AU condition....that's not asking too much, is it? |

V nickel, best I found was a 1902, cond.G Buffalo with date, best a 1914-S cond G. War Nickels, only found 11 in the wild so far, it was a spur of the moment thing for a week! (strange) Dateless buffalo, just a little better than modern CuNi's |

I have found one war nickel but never a buffalo or v-nickel. I will need to start searching nickels. Either a buffalo or v-nickel would excite me seeing that I don't own either one. |

I'm a collector more than a PM sorter, but I would still rather have a war nickel than a buffalo. Cause hey... silver! |
