My space to store pennies is almost gone. And if I have to sell off some of the hoard i wanted to see if anyone considers selling off certain years or decades of memorials first.
I have some $25 boxes sorted into decades (e.g. 60's, 70's, and 80's).
The younger ones weigh more but the older ones i like to think may have a higher overall value.
Is there any gain to having such a preference, or should they all just go to make space?

I suggest posting in the "BUY-IT-NOW" any copper penny lots you want to dispose. There are plenty of Realcent copper hoarders just waiting for your coins . |

| Unless they are wheats a copper penny is only worth a copper penny! A 1959 doesnt have any more copper in it than a 1981! As for a numismatic play. The coins have to been in XF or AU oondition or better to make it worth the numismatic play! |

| Even if it hid $3, you would likely only get a tenth cent or so increase in prices. EX: most are selling for 1.5x, you would get 1.6x. Actually, when cu was $4, they were selling for 1.5x. So I don't know. But going up to $3 isn't really going to make you much profit if you want to get rid of them anytime soon. |

I have a question about wheat pennies. If they are separated by years and rolled are they worth more? For example I have the following wheats by year in rolls: 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1948. I also have a few rolls that are mixed 40's, mixed 30's, mixed 20's. I haven't sorted and separated the wheats from the 50's yet. All of the wheats are circulated condition. Thank you

There are some numismatic types that like to search date or decade rolls for certain lesser known varities (like Coneca varities for example). It's a specialized group, and I really dont know how many people actually do this or what you can expect to sell the varities for. For more info though, try looking at:

I doubt you will get much more for the year rolls since they are common dates. You do get more for teens and twenties so I would just sort out by the decades. Everything in the 40's and 50's is common (except for the errors like the 55 double die!) |

| how many boxes do you have? IMO it would be better to increase the pile, not decrease it unless you have a substantial pile. |

Yes, you are correct. One member here, who sells massive amounts of copper cents, is currently selling 10 pound bags for $31.99. That's 2.1327 cents per copper cent if my calculations are accurate. Also, he is buying them for 1.25 X face value.
And, the current price of copper is $2.40/pound. If the price of CU goes up to $3 or $4 per pound, there certainly will be a noticeable increase in the market value of copper cents. |

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. | lol...copperbullion has created a strong market for his products. VERY very few can sell for the prices he gets. That is also why he can buy for so low. By selling on eBay, you also have to take 10-15% off the final price for fees and shipping. Silver surfer, last summer copper cents were still selling for less than 1.6 cents, and copper was $4 a pound. Why would it be any different if copper hit that price again? |
