I have started storing mine in some "Le Parfait" jars I found around the house.
They hold a lot, but anyone know how likely it is that they might break?

Go old school. Use canvas bags :) 5000 per bag is nice. Double zip ties to seal. Very sweet.

This will sound incredibly stupid, but Sgt York is my all-time favorite movie. When he was saving his money for the bottom land, he wrote every penny down he made on a day-by-day basis. I do the same thing, using index cards. Keep a running total and know to the penny the coppers I have. Mundane indeed, but I dont feel like creating something else on the PC. (Just hope I don,t lose the index cards.)

I am really getting good at barely getting by

When storing, does anyone use desiccant packets? You know, those little things found in packages that absorb moisture? They're pretty cheap and I was thinking that I would like to avoid any slight moisture having a negative effect on my Cu.

is there any problem storing them in plastic one-gallon milk jugs? do they contain PVC or anything like that that could damage the coins?

and for those who use the $25 bank boxes, do you use a plastic bag or something as a liner to help keep the coins dry?

thanks

I have only been sorting for about 2 months. So far I have 5000 coins rolled and put into boxes. Working on a 3rd box now but I dont think I am going to wrap them after seeing that a lot of other people dont either. Guess I'll store em loose from now on, easier for me anyway.

I'll be rolling mine for awhile, I got a pretty good supply of wrappers. I've just started using ammo cans. Couldn't get a 30 cal so settled on a 50 cal and they seem to be about the right size for me. I can get about 25 rolls per layer and about 6 or 7 layers.

If your using 50 cal cans, you can get a good 200 rolls in if you stand them on end and then put another layer standing on end on top of them.

OK.. maybe I store em in a few buckets, large tubs, plastic coin shipment bags, canvas bank bags and those mint shipment bags that hold a ton each as well. I also machine roll and box quite a few.

500 per 1-qt ziploc, and 5 of those per gallon ziploc, all taped up tight into a nice solid stackable brick of 2500.

I store my copper pennies in ammunition cans. 7.62MM cans are my favorite. You can store about 6000 cents per can, they weigh about 38 lbs when full and have a strong handle when you need to carry them. Good for stacking too.

I am currently using a coffee can, though I have no where near the amount of most of you guys. Should I get much larger quantity I have about 15 5 gallon buckets and like 10 10-20 gallon rubbermaid type totes, with lids I could use.

$25 bank boxes with 50 rolls wrapped in duct tape and stacked in kitty litter containers, six boxes to a container. Eight containers to a pallet. 1982's loose in bank boxes to sort when I can afford a sorter!
