Hi all,

I do a few rolls of hand sorting ... picking up the rolls from a wide variety of banks in this area, so I don't know which bank this particular roll came from.

Anyway I opened the roll and noticed that most of the coins (at least the edges) appeared dark...alway a good sign for me when harvesting coppers). The first coin I picked up was a VF 1916 S wheatie.

I excitedly went through the roll and, along with a large percentage of pre 1982 Memorials, I also found 10 wheat ears. Dates are as follows (all these coins would rate a minimum of VG): 1914, 1915, 1916 S, 1920, 1927 + 5 more wheaties from 1940 to 1958.

Wish I would have remembered which bank that particular roll came from

Congrats on your wheatie finds. Try going to the same banks again, but this time keep track of the rolls from each bank. I also hand sort a few rolls at a time. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the advice maoguinn! Its very good advice because thats exactly the advice I received from my wife! And I received it again from her tonight ... after I opened another roll from 'I don't know where" and found another 5 wheaties ... 1919 S (XF condition), 1937 P, and 3 from 1949 on to 1958. I do go back to the same banks, but there are quite a few around here and I've visited many, so I need to keep careful records, as you suggested. Thanks!!

Just a quick note on the wrapper as to where the roll came from would do the job.
