The wife forgot her glasses when we went out to eat last week and we drove back this weekend to pick them up. Stopped at a garage sale and found the following items for .25 cents each:

1) 14K marked Gold necklace pendant with tiny diamond in the "o" on the word LOVE.
2) Sterling silver leaf pin with awesome raised oval shaped soldered on hallmark "STERLING BY JEWELART"

The sterling Jewelart pin is awesome quality. I've found very little info on this company but their sterling pins seem very affordable and would look awesome in a display case of leaves and such. The company was from Rhode Island around the late 40's to early 50's. I may be keeping this one. Great garage sale deals are out there but you'll probabably burn more in gasoline than you'll make selling these items.

I was pretty upset with the wife for 50 mile round trip to get her glasses. I was happy after I stopped at this garage sale. It's all about luck and knowing what you are looking at when it comes to gargage sale PM finds. OOBER, Nice finds on the sterling necklaces! Any chance of posting a photo?

Nice finds.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Lets see if I can do this right...

I bought this from a couple that said they bought these in the 70's at a local silversmith's shop.

I am sure the big one is sterling, I suspect the smaller one is, but not 100% yet, just 95% sure.

I put an SAE in the shot for size reference.

These will be worth MUCH MORE than the spot price of sterling. Sell them for jewlery value and research them to the max. GREAT FIND!

You think? I think they are pretty ugly myself? I don't do a lot of rummaging, but I think I am going to start. :)

Ugly to us is desirable to the art community. Get them appraised before taking them to the local "we buy scrap silver" place. Trust me.

Where would I go to get something honestly appraised like this? A jeweler?

oober - ugly was the first thing I thought of, second that they are very 70s, followed by "they will melt good though". I scrolled down and see you had the same thought. Nice find :)

Walking across the parking lot at work today, I found a small piece of jewerly mark "925 LA" lying on the ground. It is about half the size of a dime. It appears to be one of those hanging trinkets off of a ladies ankle bracelet. Anywaym it is going in my scrap silver collection!
