While I know some of you will think I am crazy I am as honest as the day is long so this overage will be heading back to the bank when I pick up my next order!
With that said, I picked up my order of loose pennies and after cutting open and dumping one canvas bag into the bucket I saw a few dimes.
Now getting a dime or two in a bag of pennies is no biggie. But in this case with every scoop it looked more silver in color that copper!
In total in a $50 bag of pennies there was $23.65! Yep, there was a quarter in the bag too. Also, a silver dime! I'm keeping the silver dime. :-) Amazing!!!
So far this is the biggest bonus I've ever found in a $50 bag on pennies.

lol... get more bags. Maybe the sorting machine is on the fritz. I'm surprised the bank personnel didn't catch it and refuse to sell it to you.
Edit: Nevermind, it was a canvas bag. |

| I think I know where the bag comes from. My credit union coin counting machine in Indy. Always shorts, but is still a little better than Coinstar. $250 in dimes was 99 cents short last time. $500 in halves was $3.50 short. I'll PM you with my address so you can at least give me half of your good fortune, since it was mine to begin with. |

Correct sir. The bank isn't short, the poor sap returning his coins there is. No way to find out who's it is.

A lot of people don't seem to care or notice. I always find dimes in customer wrapped rolls. Today I found 23 dimes in 3 rolls, that all looked to be from the same person. My mom said that she used to just add a dime to penny rolls if she was short, so that she could turn in the roll at the bank . |

Yeah, customers tend to be like that. I've found susan b anthonies in CWR half rolls to make up for 2 short halves.
CWRs can have the most interesting finds, but aren't as consistent as machine wrapped coin. |

the bank was not shorted. the person or persons dumping got shorted. I ran 2 bags through the coin counter and was 6 cent short, but the 1 dime made me plus 4 cent.
yeah I would keep em. |

| This is not about honesty. As everyone else says the bank is not out a dime-- so to speak. Look at it as the same as finding a ten spot on the ground with no one else around. As much as you might want to find the previous owner there is no way to do so. The ten spot is now yours. Same with the extra in the bag. If you feel bad about having the extra $$ think about giving it to charity (a dog shelter maybe) rather than giving it to a greedy corporation. |

| I would agree the bank isn't out anything the person that ran the coins through the banks counter is out 9 cents on every dime. The bank should not profit from having a counter that does not work. Now if you opened up the bag and the whole bag was dimes, meaning someone mislabeled it when they took it off the counting machine, then that would be a different story. I like the idea of donating it, maybe put an extra $20.00 in the plate at church tomorrow. |
COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!
SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested. |

I called the bank and the girl I deal with said: I don't want it! She when on to say she would be happy to roll them for me and exchange it for the cash, and that the armored company they buy their coins from would not know how to credit it either. It would create problems trying to send it back to them so keep it.
I order a little more coin than usual for his week :-)
This weekend I also granted more wishes on: You must be logged in to see this link. so the extra change didn't go to waste! Ahhhhh, I know there are several country music song in this story somewhere... |
