I have read of folks doing road trips to scour banks for silver and such. Has anyone gone on a road trip looking for boxes of the 2009 pennies? Given that those suckers are fetching nearly 8x face as a near sure thing if you sell online, it is not inconceivable that some have looked high and low to track down a few boxes.

I would if I knew of a bank that actually had them and would hold them for me.

One of the local coin dealers said that for the log cabin cents, he drove all over CT, and into NY looking for them, however he didn't have any luck. I haven't tried to hard, I just check all the banks with in 15 minutes of my house once a week. I haven't even seen the log cabin cent in circulation yet so I am not expecting to much.

I spoke too soon, I just found my first log cabin penny in the wild.
