Went by the bank and picked up a box and some CWR's. While opening a few of the rolls in the box, I noticed that there were several coppers and lots of shiny coins. Figured I got one of those 20% boxes again but after sorting a couple of hand fulls, I found that most of the shiny ones were 1963, 1979, 1980 and 1982 (all copper 82's). Most of those were 1963. About 75% copper in the rolls I have sorted. Can't wait to do the rest. Never found that many of the same dates in such great condition.

Thanks CC! Just opened the rest of the rolls and they are like the others. Lots of 1963 and mostly coppers. My best box so far. Think I will go try to get a couple more boxes, Brinks came today.

Nice find! The 1963's are usually pretty shiny though. I think there was a hoard of them that got released into circulation sometime not to long ago.

i have a question, how to you ask the teller for CWR's? i usually just ask if anyone has brought in any rolls today and they always say no.

Thanks Highroller! It was amazing how many of these shiny little coins were in the box and even had 6 of the 2009 Lob Cabins. Hope they release some more lol.

I just ask for Customer Rolled Coins instead of CWR's, and follow with - you know the ones someone else brought in. Most people here in my little town don't have a clue. The last clerk ask what in the world do I want those for. Just told her I looked for old coins, so she said she would save them for me. No one has a coin counter here so get lots of CWR's and some are really good.

If they're MS grade, I'd roll them and sell them. They are actually worth much more than face as a BU roll.

Just got back from picking up 4 more $25. boxes stamped Inspected May 07 2009. That was all they had with that date and like the other, full of 1963 shinys and alot of coppers. Haven't done them all yet just a few rolls from each box since I am a hand sorter. So nice to get some really good boxes for a change. Picked up a bag at another bank and it is really dirty coins. Win some loose some I guess. Happy Hunting!

personally if I were you, I'd grab all the boxes you can. Put orders in at different bank branches if you have to. Keep sampling a few rolls from each box to ensure that the copper vein is still fresh. Then sort them at your leisure once the vein plays out.

Opportunities like those dont present itself all the time. When it does, you have to be ready to take it by the horns and ride it. Look at it this way, you'll have to do 3.75 normal boxes to get the same return as 1 of your good boxes, and most of those coppers won't be in very good condition.

like badthai said, seperate out the AU/BUs. You should be able to sell these separately at a premium. A $25 box of AU/BU coppers will go for a lot more than normal worn coins.

I did get all they had with that date on them. The others were dated in January and not as productive. It is a small bank and we only have one branch here. Pick up bags in the larger town 35 miles away so will check their dates Monday. Living in a small town has its disadvantages. Will check Tuesday when Brinks comes here for more. So nice to get good boxes.
