Angelica Seals, the head teller at a College Hill bank, wasn’t fond of co-worker James Hatcher.

When Hatcher’s teller drawer kept coming up short of cash last summer, Seals told her bosses they might want to take a hard look at Hatcher.

When the bosses at National City Bank took Seals’ advice, they uncovered the surprising thief – Seals.

Seals knowingly lied when she said “that James Hatcher was stealing money from the bank, when in fact, she was the one stealing the money,” assistant Hamilton County prosecutor Andrew Berghausen noted.

Seals was head teller at the bank’s College Hill branch where she supervised several tellers, including Hatcher.

Alerted by Seals, bank officials began reviewing video of that branch’s vault area where tellers’ cash drawers are kept.

Before reviewing the video, bank officials transferred Hatcher to another branch.

They saw Seals take a screwdriver to try to pry open Hatcher’s money drawer. When that failed, she used an old key that was so worn, it was able to unlock the tellers’ tills stored in the vault.

The video showed Seals taking cash from Hatcher’s locked till – in $100, $300 or $500 increments – and then close and relock it.
In all, Seals stole $9,130 from Hatcher’s till before he was transferred – and before she was caught.
Seals pleaded guilty last month to theft and safecracking in exchange for a falsification charge being dropped.

She was supposed to be sentenced last week but that was delayed.

Stunned bank officials asked Seals why she stole the money and blamed Hatcher.

She told them it was spite.

“I didn’t like him,” Seals told bank officials.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Pat DeWine sent Seals to prison Wednesday for three years and ordered her to repay the bank the $9,130 she stole. Hatcher was exonerated.

Angie is the bank teller that let us start bringing pennies in bags. James(gay teller that hard bigger arms than a body builder). He'd help bring the bags in whenever we had to many to carry in for one or two trips. Both of them were very nice. Chris, I guess his legal first name is James was looking at moving into an empty apartment of ours. He really needed a garage to store his motorcycle...

Nice. Drama everywhere these days it seems.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

She could have stolen my pennies and no one would have cared. She could have had ten grand then and it have slipped under the radar.
