I picked up a quick $10 at a nearby bank and did not find I lousy copper penny! These pennies had various dates and most were very heavily circulated. Is it possible I stumbled into someones dumb bank? Also is it possible that the Feds are starting to pull copper pennies from circulation. I hope its the first one.

Not sure. Probably machine wrapped. They were in those clear plastic shrink rolls; not paper. |

Ah, those are brinks rolls, you probably recieved a portion of someones dump that was sent to brinks to be re-rolled.
I'm noticing more and more people are sorting pennies on a small scale, I actually ran into a couple in a bank I visited for the first time who were picking up boxes at the same time I was picking up a box. I talked to them breifly in the parking lot and they've been sorting for coppers for a few years now and discovered this particular BOA branch in the only one in the area getting CWI boxes, while a majority of the other branches around get their boxes from brinks. They told me the CWI boxes yeild a higher percentage of copper and wheaties than the brinks boxes. Sure enough that box in particular I recieved, yeilded 32% coppers with 46 wheats, 2 in the teens, and 2 in the 20's. I think I found a new pickup bank!
I think its only a matter of time before skunk rolls and boxes start becoming the norm, instead of the exception. |

Yes, you are probably right. It was a surprise since I normally get between 25% and 30% from that bank. I'm just glad it wasn't an entire box.
Something that might even be more strange is that I picked up a Brinks box from another branch of the same bank a few weeks ago that gave me 90%+ copper and about one wheat every roll. I guess it all evens out. |

| Getting skunked happens to all of us at one point in time. Feel lucky it was only $10...other have reported that happening to them with hundreds of dollars in pennies! |

| I normally get Brinks boxes and they are at least 20% copper with about 8 wheats per box. I've never been skunked on a Brinks box yet. The worst one I got was about 10% copper, the best one about 32% copper. |

The only time I got skunked was when I was given an entire box of uncirculated 2008 pennies! I didn't notice until I got home. arrrgh!
