There have been a few threads before, but I'd like to get a more comprehensive one up.

How much is Stainless steel scrap going for? Flatware stainless.. how much? Restaurant sinks... how much?

What are your opinions on hoarding stainless steel?
Should we separate it ourselves or just hoard it and worry about it later?

What uses could it have in a TSHTF situation/environment?

Any alternative uses for stainless scrap?

Thanks!!!

In March I got 35 cents a pound. Prices have gone up some since then, The best ever i've had was 75 cents. Remember that all stainless is not the same. Some have iron in them and are managetic and worth much less. I would only hord till the price goes up then sell.

well... all stainless STEEL has iron in it. But yes, the way I understand it is that at a certain point, the magnetic Nickel counteracts the magnetic iron..... or the addition of other metals and dilution of the iron causes it to loose some of most of its magnetic properties.

What grade or kind of stainless did you sell in March? Specifics is what I am curious about! Thanks

Is it worth saving empty steel food cans? What will the scrap dealer pay per pound?
