The "powers that be" say that it is effective against swine flu. The conspiracy crowd says that it has many dangerous side-effects and is pushed only because it makes the "powers that be" a cart load of money. For example: Rumsfeld is an owner and helped push through government stockpiling of the drug back in the Bush years.
The theory behind the drug is that it interferes with virus replication and slows down the virus enough that your immune system can catch-up and win the battle.
Personally, I feel like Tamiflu is safer than any new vaccine that might come out in the next few months, but it may or may not work as advertised. My family decided it was worth a gamble. Will throw the dice if and only if the swine becomes much more deadly than it is now.
I will not be getting the vaccine...

Actually, it's (so far) no more deadly than a typical flu. The initial deaths in Mexico city were almost certainly due to a combination of the flu and a secondary infection/vulnerability.
Why Janet Reno, sorry, Napolitano, said that it was hopeless to stop the spread into the US. If it was as serious as it is now being claimed to be, why was there no panic from "health officials" in the initial stages?
Frankly, I'm at the point where I trust nothing any government (US or otherwise) has to say regarding anything, much less a potential killer virus. My thoughts, eat well, avoid sick people, take large doses of vitamin C, and pray.
