No time for coffee or smokes breaks. Been busy at 4 vending machines at work. They have producing pre-60 nickles and a few war ones. Haven't had any luck yet with quarters or dimes yet. I just pump in 15 to 20 nickles and hit the change return....and I get back that many. Takes about 5 minutes a machine for the nickles. A bit longer for the quarters though. Dimes work through fast too. I just mark a single coin and run the coins through until I get it back. Sometimes sooner sometimes later. It's the only enjoymeny I get at work!

Hey when you got an itch....you should scratch.....right? Anyway 2 of the vending machines are located in the shipping area. Lots of action from truck drivers with odd accents. Like maybe they're not from the U.S. I notice lots of different languages there. So I get better quality returns on my break. I find other coins on the ground...like the new golden dollars. These machines don't take them....so they just toss them on the ground. Easy pickings.

No wonder the US is going down the tubes. People just throw dollar coins on the ground as worthless? Must be easy to go into debt or bankrupt with that approuch to money. The members here would never do that! but then some here raid penny dishes for copper.

A Postal Office in a near by town give $1 coins for change in their stamp machine in the lobby. Used to get the Susan B. Anthony dollars. Haven't bought stamps lately but who knows what might come out of a stamp machine. Our Post Office here took out the stamp machine.

I had a similar idea years ago while collecting state quarters. I think your rationale is pretty good. Keep it up and happy hunting.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of it's victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busy-bodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis |

I find hitting the machines as a better pasttime at work than doing crosswords or sudukos. Sometimes it takes the mechanics or electricians a bit of time to get the production line moving again. Can do only so manny sudukos or crosswords.
