Does anyone know what $25.00 worth of copper pennies weighs?

Depends on how shiny they are.

$25 of copper pennies only, or rolled in a box?

Usually if you figure about 150 per pound it will get you close.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

2500 copper pennies times 3.1 grams per penny roughly = 7750 grams

7750 grams divided by 454 grams per pound (avoirdupois) = 17.07 pounds

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I did a little experiment the other day, and I found an average of 145 copper pennies per pound and an average of 188 zinc pennies per pound.

Just be careful with the 145. A mint-fresh copper with no wear weighs 3.11 grams, so it would take 145.85 (146 for all practical purposes) completely perfect pennies to make a pound. With normal wear from circulation, it takes a little more. I just did a quick test with a scale I have that is accurate to 0.01 grams, and it took 147-148 average pennies to hit a pound. I typically just use 150 for quick estimations. For buying/selling I go by the weight anyway; no need to count that way
