So I got back with 6 boxes to sort for the day, looking to keep my 32% streak alive and I open up the third box and immediately all I see is bright glowing stacks of pennies. I immediately think ohh crap here goes my 32% in a BIG way until I investigate the rolls and realize I just got an entire box of 2009's

Congratulations! We don't count those shiny new zinc boxes against our percentages. Go back to that bank immediately and buy every box of pennies they have.  |

yeah I was thinking that same thought but I remembered I bought them out when I was there

| the part that was so funny was that I went in there asking if they had the new ones and they just said that they had no idea. I have so many banks at my disposal that I'm going to have to map out which ones I find these at |

I called Loomis today. she said they only got 2 skids and that they serviced Charlotte NC all the way down to Columbia SC. And another large city that I can't remember. So it is just kinda being lucky and ordering high volume of boxes.
Everyone and their brother is looking for the '09's. Since I uped my penny sorting by 400 percent I might just actully get a box or 2.
Congrats on your score.Are you gonna keep it or sell it fast before the hype dies down? |

CopperSnake.. try to hit as many banks in your area as you can that might get their coins from the same coin service. Also, up your weekly order significantly at the good bank if they will let you. |

thanks for the tips I will definitely ramp up this hunt tomorrow. I don't know how many folks here are from Illinois but here's a fact you might not know and that is that we are the most overbanked state in the country by far, so this project could really turn into a big game hunt!
one tip for everyone here looking, the box that had these was the only one Ive ever run across that was sealed in white paper tape instead of the standard brown, so if you see one of those behind the counter.......!!!!!!! |

My advice. Sell them in small lots like 10 rolls at a time on ebay. They seem to bring higher prices that way! I just sold 10 rolls of D's for $4.83 a roll! However when I sold bigger lots, such as 50 rolls, I only got $3.70 something a roll. Either way its dang nice profit, but just trying to help you maximize your profit.

I guess I was lucky after all with the plastic pennies. These were the first 2 that didn't jam the Ryedale. I heard them when I dumped the roll into the hopper, so I stopped the machine and pulled them out before they could lock up the machine. Maybe I will start collecting plastic pennies by die variety.

Tho I do have a couple loose 2009's that I think I'll keep for kicks.
