I have been getting orders of $25 boxes from the bank. But I've been weighing asking them for bagged coins instead. Probably save the coin processors some time/money if all they need to do is count the coins & bag them.
If you had a choice, would you rather have $25 boxes or $50 bags of pennies from the bank?
The main advantages of the boxes are that they make good storage devices & can be shipped easily (2 per flat rate box) and that sometimes you get boxes full of uncirculated pennies that you can flip for a quick buck.
Bags are a lot quicker though since you dont have to unwrap.
I'd make a poll if I could figure out how.

| In my opinion it seems like everyone with a rydale would rather the bags but as a hand sorter I like the boxes because I can save the wrappers and I like the thrill of the hunt while wondering what I will get out of each roll. |

Bags all the way. That being said, I NEVER pass up any pennies be them in boxes or bags. Less work on the bags. As far as saving the wrappers, most box wrappers are not re-usable. Either tight paper rolls, or the Brinks condoms.

Hey I have never gotten the plastic wrappers but with the shotgun rolls I open them carefully with a wine tool sure its not exactly time efficient but as a low volume hand sorter it doesnt really bother me. |

Bags , bags , and more bags. Pour into the Ryedale and kick back and relax....till the 1st jam.
2nd choice, brinks boxes with the plactic, then fed boxes, and if i am desperate...those CWR that you get everything and anything in. |

I'd prefer bags but am only able to get boxes. Agh, can't stand those plastic wrappers. |

| I like bags only because the banks like getting rid of their bags. I'd go either way. But my first priority is always keeping my banks happy. |

I can't convince anyone to sell their bags. They all say that they are under contract etc. So, I get boxes. Running only 1 Ryedale, I can unwrap them faster than they get sorted. Otherwise, running more than one Ryedale like some of the heavy hitters here, it would be an issue. Bags would be nice but boxes are better than none! |

| I mentioned this before. I have a contact who is involved with picking up donation cannisters from McDonalds, Taco Bell etc. across the US. If you PM me with your locations, I can find out if there is someone in your area who has pennies in bags. They would probably be happy to sell them at face value, since the Bank usually charges them to deposit. |

Ha! Thanks guys.
I'll try seeing about getting them to sell to me in bags. I was just wondering because one of my banks happened to sell me $500 bags of halves & dollar coins, so I know it's possible. Now I just have to see if they're willing to do it for pennies as well.

If they are already selling you ANY bags, then pennies should be no problem. Just ask nicely, and maybe take some chocolate to soften them up.

Ah, if only I could get bags. I would much rather get bags if that were possible, but I will take the pennies in any form the bank is willing to supply them. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

| BAGS! Less trash, less effort opening. Only downside is not having a Brinks box afterwards. |

| I asked a couple of my banks if they would sell their bags to me instead of Brinks. So, on the day or two after the Brinks truck comes by, I head on over there and pick them up. I just try to make it as convinient for them as possible. |
