2 boxes. 1 90% 4 40%....
On a negative. I shorted myself 10 90% dimes when I bought some junk today... Instead of 9.4x face. I paid 10.4... Ugh...

| Bank stiffed me this week because of Christmas. I would not have cared, I even told them last week not to order, but they assured me that they had placed the order. I drove in for nothing. |

2 more boxes today....
13 40% and 2 90%...
People must be cashing 1/2's in. All but 1 40% was in a box stamped 12/4/08..... |

Skunked today on $600. Did find an 04 but nothing else of interest. 2008 was a record year for skunkings.
Thought: This thread is now 27 pages long. Do we want to start another half dollar thread in 09? |

Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

This is my first foray into getting halves from banks. I live in a large city so I drove to a small town to search. The only bank with halves had 180. I got 120 and found:
1 '65 3 '67 1 '69
I went back and got the last 60 and they were all skunkers. But hey, that's OK. I'll try to expand my search. |

Did a box last night. Skunk. Found a 2001-P and about $300 in BU condition 2001-D coins. Fresh rolls of them must have gotten open up and dumped into the Brinks' bins.
Is it evil to suggest that we scratch up any 2001-D halves we come across? There, I said it. I am finding plenty of them and plenty of 2000-P coins nowadays. My thoughts are with enough sorting, we will eventually scuff up a good majority of all the remaining halves in circulation. Any BU quality ones we set aside will be the only ones in existence, lol. It may be far-fetched sounding, but my suspicions are eventually we will have sorted through all the halves in this country by 2012! |

Can't do that man. This one needs restarted for sure, and maybe a few others as well, but not all threads.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

| Not quite a full Silver Santa, but I'll take it! Monday I asked for and got $500 of loose halves out of the coin counter. I ended up with 9 90% halves and 17 40% halves! |

Searched two boxes halves and two boxes dimes:
Results:
Halves... Box 1 - skunk Box 2 - one 64, one 68, one 69, and one 1989 proof. Dimes... Box 1 - skunk Box 2 - 3 silver roos.
Its enough to keep me interested. |

| finally got around to searching a $1000 bag of halves I bought some time ago - several 90% and 40%. This was from a CU coin sorter. So clearly the machine did not reject silver. also found a few pennies, a dime, a quarter, a house key, and an old New Zealand 20 cent coin. |
Buying: Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00 copper cents at 1.3X wheat pennies at 3X
