Do you thing hoarding is becomming more popular? Obviously there is a few people here and there who pick it up, like me. But I was wondering if these increasing prices would bring out a large amount of people deciding it is time to hoard.
People have grown very complacement over the years and they have learned to take the US dollar and other similar risky investments for granted. As such it is going to take some time before people wake up and realize that they are carrying around wads of green toilet paper in their wallets. Inflation is ratcheting up, but the government says that it is slow and steady, no worries and for now most people are buying it.
If you want to gauge hoarding, I would watch the following: 1. This board's membership and post numbers 2. The mints monthly production numbers 3. Hoarding in the news 4. Coin shortages in the news 5. Random strangers overheard talking about hoarding
So far the gauges are all reading barely above 0. Which is good if you still need time to built your hoard as I do and bad if you are hoping to cash in...
I think that the general market psychology is shifting towards holding precious metals, but most (99.9%) people still don't realize that base metal coins are another way to physically hold trade metals.
