this is really starting to suck...for starters, the bank i belong to charged me a 10% fee per box,i told them i will just get them elsewhere.i stopped at another bank the past two weeks, and picked up boxes without a fee.i stopped there again today, and they told me from now on they will have to charge a 20% fee per box,i said screw that and left.there are a couple others that i can get them without a fee at this time, but i bet if i keep going there week after week,or every other week, they will start charging the fee as well.what are you guys finding out there? i cant see how these guys on here that are filling there rhydales with pennies, like a jet going through fuel, dont get the same crap i am running into.think about it,if a guy goes to the bank and gets 10 boxes at face value, and a few days later brings 70%them back without them making one cent, its more of pain in the ass for the bank than anything else

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday.

Never Ever...did I say Never....dump where you pick up. You need a pickup bank and several dump banks.

Always open accounts. and if you feel shafted talk to the bank manager. I have heard the f word a few times. but never paid and still get coins from those banks. Once I tried to order a big half order and she said she should be charging a fee. I said ok I will be fine with just 1 box of halves.

And once when I ordered over the phone from another branch she said she would have to pay a fee to have the boxes picked back up if I was a 'no show'.

Shop around...order small...feel them out...then slowly ask for more. some will put limits and some will pretty much get you what you want.

but never return your rejects to a source bank.

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

Banks are much friendlier taking away their "handling and rolling" fees than making them incur "ordering costs". Try to get on the other side of the supply loop, i.e. the banks bagged returns TO the brinks man.

I agree with earlier comments. It costs the banks to send the coins back that they get from people depositing them. They have seemed very friendly to me whenever I am taking a big load of pennies off their hands that they don't have to send back.

Problem is, this supply isn't very consistent.

Might depend on if they're getting the coin from their own vault or if they're ordering it from brinks. The banks I use all have thier own vaults & I believe roll the coins themselves, so they dont mind ordering lots of pennies or halves.

As stated by others NEVER take back pennies to your supply bank. I have a couple of supply banks that I have a standing order of $500.00 or 10 bags per week with, but I NEVER take a penny back to them. I have other dump banks where that is all I do is dump $200.00 to $300.00 worth of zincers each week. Let your dump banks know ahead of time that you will be depositing large amounts of pennies on a regular basis before you open an account with them. Then leave several hundred dollars in the account or at least deposit the pennies that you bring in, into the account after you count them and then make your house payment or car payment with the money that is in that account so that it shows some activity and shows a decent balance most of the time. My dump banks even have the self serve coin counters in their lobby, so I get my pennies in bags and take them back in bags. No busting open rolls, this saves a lot of time. This system has been working out very well for me.

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

Missed reading this the first time around. This is the reason why they're cutting you off. There's no way to upset a bank faster than bringing back your dumps to them.

personally, I try to avoid the line of questions where the issue of what I do with the dumps come up. If this is the case, usually I mention spending it, using it in my business, or joke about dumping it on one of their competitors.

Once in a while, they've let me know they dont mind taking back or whatever, but I still tell them that I dont think it's very polite to do so.

US Bank never charged me a fee when I was sorting boxes, but it was never more than 2 per week. Now I just get the $50 bag off their coin counter.
Benefits the bank by freeing up vault space, and saves you from having to bust open the plastic wraps.

Pretty much been covered. You ever heard that you don't sxxt where you eat? Same goes for coins....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

US Bank is Heaven in a building for me. I started with them only a few months ago when they offered to order me halves. Now our relationship is getting a bit more serious...

I used to buy coins from Wachovia before I had an account. There was no charge. Then they told me in order to keep getting coins, I would have to have an account. I opened an account. Time went by and they said I couldn't order coins there anymore. I said.."But you told me if I opened an account, that I would be able to buy coins!" They said they made a mistake. I started taking coins TO Wachovia for deposit. They said why are you picking on us? I said that I felt so bad that I was a part of the "mistake in selling me coins" that I was gonna bring them all back a little at a time.

Wells Fargo did the same thing sort of. Said no fees if you have an account and then when I opened an account they charge a fee for counting. No mention of fee for getting boxes but they refuse to accept rolled coins and don't like you to bring in loose coins. They make it hard to do business with. Not sure what the big deal is really.

I have been known to fuel up a few Ryedales on a weekly basis. Hungry little beasts.

We deal with the same problems you do, but approach it a little differently. There are like 150 branches of each of my major banks between my home and work. There are several different competing banks in my area. If one bank doesn't treat you right, you just walk across the street and do business with another.

I think it is a branch by branch thing rather than national bank policy. I regularly get 24 boxes at a time from several banks, including Wachovia. One of my dump banks is Wells Fargo, where I dump several boxes per week of rolled coin. Sometimes they even swap me out some of their incoming boxes because they know I like to search through them. I got cut off from my local branch of BofA when they rotated in a new manager who decided he didn't like me bringing in bags of pennies for deposit (dang that squeeky wheel on the cart), but I still dump those several precounted bags at several other branches of BofA with no problem. I have never paid a fee.. never will.. unless of course they are willing to guarantee me all new boxes of shiny 2009 zincers.. then I might not mind paying them a fee.

I really like Dan52's solution.. this is often how dump banks are selected.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

I'm also with Dan52 and Hoard. If my banks that I do business with don't want to get coins for me, I will gladly give coins to them. I would have no guilt over asking a branch manager who refused to get me coins how he/she will feel when all my deposits are now made in coin. They can choose whichever is more convenient to them.

I'm SO using that one...

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!
