Silver quarters are the toughest silver to find (1 per 3860 coins searched). Halves are the best (one silver coin found per 154 coins searched). War nickels (1 per 2342) and Silver dimes (1 per 1619) can be found too.

YES - Halves come in boxes of $500. Try the local bank you have an account; ask the head teller (the one who orders coins/bills) nicely. I would suggest starting with one $500 box and work you way up from there if you find that coin roll searching is for you. "NEVER" dump the coins back at the branch you get the coins. Clearly state to your branch that you will NEVER dump the coins back on them after you are done. Therefore, you need to find another bank to dump the coins. Coin searching in boxes is hit or miss; don't be surprised if you get some boxes with nothing in them because there are a lot of people searching for silver in competition with you.

Hi there-
4 wheats per 10 rolls is about par. 10-15 per box is average, but there are extremes on both ends of the spectrum. Worst box eva was 7 wheats. Best was like 64. Keep em all!!!

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

Halves - 50 ten dollar rolls in every box.
It's very important to dump your rolls at another bank. Bank employees, both manager and tellers, can get really upset when you dump the coins back on them. Further, the bank can say "NO MORE" not only to you, but to every other coin roll hunter at this bank.
Wait 'till you get your first silver half. There's no better feeling than seeing that beautiful silver edge shining back at you when you tear open the paper roll. |

| Never found a silver quarter before. I've found war nickels (4), mercury dime (2) and some Kennedy halves (15). Today got 1940 quarter in change from a local sandwich shop while on vacation in Cayey, Puerto Rico. Also in other Puerto Rico towns, we got 2009 lincoln (1) and (2) in change yet not in upstate NY yet. |

| Found a nice 1960d quarter in my change from Mcdonalds last week. They are some still out there. I've had better luck by chance in change from merchants than I've had searching boxes/rolls. |

I agree. I look at it as the adult version of easter egg hunting. |

| A few years ago I received a 1947 quarter in pocket change and saved it, of course. I have also received maybe 2 war nickels and grand total of (0)zero dimes. However, I have seen several hundred 1965 quarters and dimes. It especially stinks to get a 1965 quarter or dime in change. Kind of like, rubbing salt in a wound. |
