wow, just found my first IHP. 1890 out of a customer wrapped roll. I was sorting these rolls manually because I've been pulling out some strange wheats. The wheats all look like theyve been gold plated. Edit: They've been polished.

Edit: polished

OMFG. Just got a 1906 IHP (Edit polished) :(

Got a 3rd IHP 1902 not polished

4th IHP 1908 not polished

Fck... one of the polished coins is a 1922-D :*(

Pictures to come! Still looking.

Gold in a penny roll is pretty sweet. Nice finds

Now this is a interesting find. I wonder who would do such a thing to these pennies and put them in a roll collectively. Be sure to check that 1908 Indian for a S on the back!

Excellent find!

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

There is probably a way to remove the gold plating through electrolisis.

Congrats on finding your first Indian!

Actually you're probably right on the polishing. I just weighed them, and they're coming in at 3.05grams or so. Sorry for misleading anyone. I've gotten some other gold plated coins before, and they did look similar.

But yeah, I'm pretty bummed that someone would polish (and ruin) so many coins.

Nice coins, too bad about the polishing. Oh well, they all count. I'll offer face for the "trash" coins, hehe.

TenBears would probably claim that they are not wild Indians. He would say the polishing clearly demonstrates that these Injuns wandered off the reservation.

Yes, unfortunately it's been polished. Off the top of my head, the red book lists it at $14 in G-4 condition. if I had to guess, I'd say it might have been VF - F. There's still a decent amount of detail on lincoln's head even after someone killed the coin.

Robarons, no mint marks on the back. It was one of the first things I was looking for. No such luck.

Went back to the bank, but they didn't have too many penny rolls left, so I didn't try to take what they had (bank needs them for business customers). I think there might have been a few rolls that I didn't grab the first time from the teller.

I did get 4 40% halves while I was there, and they put in a $100 penny order for me.
