I've been finding some sterling items at garage sales recently. These arrow heads are all over EBAY and don't sell for much but I only paid 25 cents for it. It's stamped STERLING on the back. I'm starting a collection of sterling items I purchase at garage sales this Summer. Maybe the moderators can start a seperate forum on garage sale/flea market PM finds? Just a thought.

Nice find CuproNickle.

I have bought a few silver jewelry items for less than spot at yard/garage sales too.
I guess some sellers don't realize their silver jewelry can be sold for its melt value.

I change with the times-
but like silver coins found in your change
I stay the same.

10-4 on that one.
Can you imagine what it would look like if the inlay was solid Turquoise with a bit of Copper running through it?

Better check that[acid test] to see if it really is sterling. There are some phony marks out and about. Turquoise looks awful low grade for sterling. May be mexican silver. Check with gold and silver buyer.

Acid test? Art critics? Low grade turquoise for sterling? There's about $3.00 in sterling in this thing tops. Would you use high grade turquoise for something like this? If it's fake, who cares? I paid a quarter for it. You guys must be having some fun with as you can't be serious. I'm just trying to find some PM's at garage sales near my house and posting it for fun. The jokes on me. You guys.................:)

I went to a yard sale this past weekend and she was selling "junk" jewlery for 10 cents a piece. Picked up 4 pieces of sterling silver jewlery (a bent up bracelet, 2 earrings that didn't match, and a small broach for a necklace).

Some junk or costume jewelry is worth much more than sterling. And some may look like junk when it is really platinum or white gold. Check for signatures. I made a living for many years dealing in just this kind of stuff and you can make some very good deals when you know what you are looking at. You can lose your butt if you aren't careful though. Get a loop, scale, and an acid kit so you can do it yourself.
