How rare is it to find pennies with S mint marks? I've got a bunch of S marked wheats, but I keep those anyway. Should I be setting aside '68-'74 pennies with S's as well?

| Man, those little 'S's sure are hard to see, let alone differentiate from 'D's. |

| I separate into wheats, coppers and the really nice ones I put into 2x2's. Yea the "S" mints seem rare, so many "D" mints all the time. |

Right here 40 miles from the SF mint the percentage of S mints is only about 5-7% of the total copper cents I pull out of circulation. It gets down as low as 1% as you move further east. So yes, it is worth keeping the S mint coppers seperate if you are already looking at the dates. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Holy smokes! You should see if you've got enough to put together some solid date rolls. |

| I used to not save any that I came across; I regret that mistake. I now keep every one I find (unless it's damaged) in a nice little Budweiser beer stein. |

| are they really worth anything? I pull out the obvious copper AU/BUs, but dont really bother looking for errors or mintmarks. |

I havent done it in the past but I should. Just for comparison, APMEX sells "S" mint bags separatey...
5000 count wheats $239.99 5000 count "S" wheats $319.99
5000 count LMC's BU 1968-S $499.99 5000 count LMC's BU 1974-D $189.99
So both wheats and LMC's are selling for a significant premiums compared to similar products. One of these days I will have to go back through my hoard and pull these out.
