I was wondering if anyone recently has had much luck finding silver or silver clad halves in the casinos in Atlantic City?

I will be making a trip that way soon for a little R&R and wondered if anyone had any luck? Today in the age of paper payouts and a near coinless casino I'm not sure I'll have a chance.

Many, many years ago in both Vegas and AC I was able to score hand full's of 40%ers and a few 90% and even a Franklin Half! It was always a nice diversion and I love that silver ringing sound and of course the thrill of the hunt!

would be surprised if they still used coins. most casinos have switched to tokens and value cards i think, but i'll let others weigh in. maybe indian casinos still use coins.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

Wondering the same thing except for Reno. Going in May to Reno for USBC WOMEN'S (BOWLING) CHAMPIONSHIPS and thought maybe I might coin search during off times. Never been to Reno or Atlantic City but most of the Casinos I've been to use the paper tickets. Sure wish coins still fell out.

You'll have better luck finding Ag at the pawn shops in Reno/Sparks than the Casino's.
The prices will be better in Sparks.

Will have to try that. Thanks! Better to stay away from those machines anyway.

Not sure about atlantic city, but for vegas, a lot of casino machines no longer give halves. The tellers at the casino know this, and dont want to bother giving you halves. There are some smaller casinos that the machines give halves, but the amount of silvers given is low (perhaps because the halves keep changing hands).

Best bet is still the banks, and not the casinos unless you can get them to give you rolls.

I've found some, but not much. Definately not franklins.

heh... you have to find a $5 table, first. Then you need to be lucky with the blackjacks

It's been a while since I gambled, but I can't recall too many $5 tables the last time I went

Hi there-

I found ONE 40% half in the St. Croix Turtle Lake casino in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin in 2008. But, at that time, they said that they would be switching to paper payouts before the end of the year, : (

wags

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.

I haven't found any casinos still using coins. I used to get $5-$10 of silver content halves a few years ago in Michigan, on each of my casino visits.

Before Louisiana and Mississippi Casinos went to Tickets (DAMN) I used to load up on silver coins (halves) quite frequently, 40% clad was all over and one night I loaded up on over $100 face 40%!!!!

Tickets have killed the hunt!!!!!
