It's hit-and-miss. I find you get better luck waiting for customer-rolled rolls, rather than ordering boxes. My best score a few months ago was 124 90% Kennedys, a few 40%ers, and 1 Franklin. Some old lady must have turned tehm in at face value. But this is truly the exception. My last time, I bought $600 of halves and a box of pennies from a local bank. Got NOTHING out of the halves (not even 2002 or later), and to make matters worse, the box of pennies was already searched, and had no copper cents. It's a matter of patience. Typically, you'll get 2-5 40%, and maybe 1-2 90% per $500.

My scores have taken a down turn. Thats logical since you have to expect that there is more silver out there when you first start hunting it than there is afterwards. Bbfirebird's score of 124 90% kennedys is phenomenal. I have had a few like that...I bought $400 in halves once and there was over 200 40% halves...there are others but not many.

I'll tell you what is logical. The more you and everybody else posts their finds and talks about their BIG scores, more and more people will try their hand at this.

I posted this on another thread but it applies here also;

Personally, I don't want to advertise realcent on anything. If you were to ask me, I would already say that there are to many of us now.It gets harder and harder everyday to deal with banks and if your not effected yet,you soon will be.Just think for a moment, the tellers in the banks already don't want to see you when come through the door rolling a cart full of pennies. Now imagine several "new" people rolling in carts to your bank.It won't take long for the banks to change their policies.

If I recall correctly, somebody did the math on here, that it would only take about 3 yrs. to remove all the copper from the system with just us realcent members and that was about six months ago when there was less members, way less members.(not counting guests and lurkers)
Not to mention,if anything,a faster decrease in yield percentages.

It's simple, the less people that know about this, the better it will be for us.

Also, for the people that just have to post their finds on the "halves and other coins" thread it's even worse. That market is even smaller with even lower yield percentages with heavier boxes for the tellers to lift.

Instead of posting your finds and pictures of silver for the world to see, if you need a "attaboy" go show your mommy and daddy instead.I'm sure it will mean more to you if you have too, rather than some stranger on the net telling you.

Yeah, I'm venting a little.

But.

If you found a gold, silver or copper mine just down the street from your house, would you tell everyone ?
(that's how the gold rush started)

Like I said,if you need a "attaboy" go show your mommy and daddy.

If they won't give it to you,go see a shrink instead, you have other problems.

Remember, when you post on here your not just talking to realcent members only.

Your potentially posting to 375,000,000 people in the U.S.,and all 5 billion people on the planet should they choose to read this forum.

If 1% (3,750,000) of those people living in the U.S. started to sort coins how long would it last?

How about 1% of the 1% (37,500 people)if they started to do this ?

Just 10% of the 1% of the 1% (3,750 people)would be almost 4 times as many members than we have right now (1003 members).

There are a lot of people out of work now with nothing to do but cruise the net looking for a way to make a buck.Should they happen upon this site or another like it, wouldn't it be logical for them to try it since they read about all those BIG finds and the fortunes that await them ?

Remember this is a niche market.

A little discretion will go a longways in making it a profitable one.

I'm not singling you out, this applies to everyone here...

I'm sticking with it.

But how much in halves have you sorted to get 205 oz.?

Uhhhh. guessing about $90,000

$439 searched per ounce of silver??? Doesn't seem worth it, IMO.

I am guessing 3 boxes a week. if he is already picking up pennies, what is wrong with picking up 3 boxes of halves. you are already there. you have to dump the pennies anyways. so dump the halves too. the money is either gonna be the same or you will find silver and make money. 205 oz of silver at 13/oz is 2665.00.

I think it is worth it. IMO

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK
