These were customer rolled nickels in that they each had the same name and number. In addition to the silver I found a few from the late forties. I think we are seeing more rolls that have been sitting around for twenty years or more.
There is a odd irony here. The recession which proceeds the inflation is causing people to behave in such a way (turning in coins) that allows people like us to collect wealth (copper and some silver) and ride out (hopefully) the period of inflation.
I think you will see a fair share of them out there, I usually pull out almost a roll per box of 59 and earlier and I would suspect 25% of these are 49 and earlier.
