I am a hand sorter and have been rolling all of my coppers in HF String rolls...I do not intend to sell what I have but what do you think would be the best "vehicle" for lack of a better term, to keep them. I figure the weight is more important than quantity but im curious as to what everyone thinks....Thanks in advance for your advice!
Edit: What, if any, possible numismatic value is worth the time in searching for (Double Dies, Off Center Strikes, AM varieties, etc.)? Just looking for opinions. Cheers!

For now I keep them in the plastic coffee cans you see everywhere. Each one will hold a little over 2500 coins. You can even fill them to a certain weight. Easy to stack, virtually water proof. That way if I ever want to search for something I just dump them out. I can always roll, etc in the future if need be. rolling and stacking in brinks boxes works good for a lot of people too. What I do is use blue, green, and red plastic coffee cans. Reds are zincs that go back to bank, green are my "save for later sorting" and blue are my coppers. Works well for me and I find people love me taking these off their hand because all they normally do is throw them in the recycle bin. We get about two a week at my work. Most places that serve coffee on a large scale should be able to supply you with a lot of these on a pretty normal basis.
Just my way. Not saying it's the best by any means.

I hope you have a good back! 5 gallons can weigh a lot.
I use the bank boxes. Forget the rolling, that can be done later. Boxes stack great, use minimal space with right angle edges, are easily transportable, and easily used to judge your hoard size. |

| I keep them rolled and in boxes. I make sure to label them so people know they are copper and to save them. |

Fed Bags are the bomb, thick mill plastic that holds 50lbs easy... Once sorted I have no reason to open them again... I seal up the bag tight and put away for a future date...
I only roll AU coppers, just to keep them as AU as possible.. |

| I use the $25 cent boxes, too. Either loose or rolled, depending on time constraints. |
As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

I use 1/2 gallon milk jugs. No problem with the plastic breaking down, but some say it might in the long term. |

I also machine roll mine and put the rolls in new boxes and label them "COPPER DO NOT TAKE TO BANK". They stack nice and I know exactly how many I have and when the time comes to sell them or use them for bartering they will be in rolls and ready to go. |

| I currently use 1-1/2 gallon plastic jugs that I got as samples from work. They hold about 50 lbs. of copper cents. |
Are you throwing that out? |

I store them a lot of ways. Sometimes I machine roll them and store them in the original boxes. Sometimes I put the rolls in .30 cal ammo cans.. each holds 100 rolls and has a convenient carrying handle. I also store them in canvas bank bags, the plastic bank shipment bags (7500 or 50 lbs), buckets.. kitty litter pails, 33 gallon tubs with rope handles (these hold half a ton each with room to spare) and original Mint bags.. 300,000 per bag (1 ton). I wouldn't want to pay for all those NF String & Son Cartridge rolls, but their automatic rolling paper is reasonable. Usually when folks are buying them they prefer them loose in a bag so they can look at them. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

free buckets from the donut shop. you can also get them from the bakery at your grocery store. I use kitty litter buckets and a handtruck for dumping. 30000 pennies fit in the 38lb bucket.but that gives you a 165lb bucket to pick up. helps if you are/were a weight lifter. the buckets from the donut shop hold 12500 pennies perfect. that is about 85 lbs.
look around and try to use FREE containers.
spend money on more coins. not materials. |

| I like the coffee can idea. I have a bunch of them already. I do roll the pennies and label with the dates. The penny collector in me has to store them by date. I haven't touched my coin collection in years. But once I started sorting for copper pennies, I also started looking for decent condition coins. I will start putting the rolls, by date, in the coffee cans. |

| I have 5 boxes of cents rolled, two of them are by date. I also have a 5 gallon bucket that is 3/4 filled. I like the idea of getting the plastic fed bags to store them. I'll have to ask the bank if they can part with some. I don't search for errors other than the visible ones, clipped planchet or cuds. |

Office Depot's online website can deliver the preformed shotgun rolls for $20.99 per box of 1000 rolls. That's about 2 cents per roll. Item #621040. They can ship it to your door in about two days and you can run them through a normal coin counter and count and roll coins at the rate of about 400 coins per minute on a good machine. The boxes last me several months. Then the rolls go right back in the $25.00 bank boxes and get taped back up. The bank is very happy to take them back that way and they don't mind ordering new boxes for me to search because I bring them boxes they can sell. Easy buy, easy dump.

| Most of my copper is in plastic coffee cans. I have filled and taped up a couple $25 boxes too, I can usually put $20 of loose coppers back in them. I'm an elongated coin roller, so I usually clean the ones I'm going to use for rolling and then put them in tyvek postal envelopes in $25 increments. |

| I use 2.5 gallon buckets from work that they were just going to throw out. They also have 5 gal buckets but with my back trying to pick up a 5gal bucket full of pennies would be suicide. |
