90% seems to be going for 11x

what premium if anything is appropriate for older silver like Bens, Walkers, Mercs, etc.

I happened to buy a small bag from a dealer the other day and it was 15% JFK's, 45% Bens, and 40% walkers.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

Wrong forum brother, but anyways I have never paid a premium for "junk walkers and franks", They are not it great condition (walkers usually vg-f, frank f-xf), but I do get to pick thru and I usually grab the best out of the lot.

And 11x was what I paid on wed for 12.50face.

I've been offered three 90% bags, $500 face each. I hear they are a mix of denominations, but can be sorted if I'd prefer. What's a fair price to pay? 8x since its bulk? What did you pay?

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!

i paid 10.35x but that was when silver spiked down. most dealers are at spot plus 2 bucks which is about 11x or slightly more.

I guess 10x is a fair price. I remember when it was $6/oz. I bought a few St. Gauden's at $600 each, common dates, back then. No silver though :(

Thanks!

My local dealer just bought some from me at 10.6x face. I owed him a favor so I helped him fill an order. 8x face is not really a fair offer, but if you can swing it, more power to you.

for future reference, you can probably get 11x face on this site.

From dealers, sometimes you get older silver, sometimes they charge extra. I don't do deals that often. Some folks here can tell you the latest price on eBay.

Just wondering if there is a consensus as to what premium older silver should get - stuff like Mercs, Walkers and Bens.

FWIW, my dealer doesnt separate out mercs from Roosie dimes so he doesnt charge a premium there. I have seen some places charge from 0.5 to 1.0 x face above the regular price for those. Walkers seem to have the highest premium, and off the top of my head it seems to be roughly 1.0 to 2.0 x face above regular 90%. Bens are like Mercs from my experience, so I would say 0.5 to 1.0 x face above regular 90% seems fair.

If you can get under 10x buy ALL YOU CAN GET. At 8x buy MORE THAN YOU CAN GET!!

I'll take most any silver at just under 10x if anyone wants a place to dump. :)

No doubt! 10x is a good price right now. I wish I had bought more when it was closer to 9x or under late last year.
