Hello Everyone,
I try to spread my dumps around to multiple bank branches. My half dollar dumps are always less than $500. When I started searching, I dumped four $500 boxes in my credit union - it didn't take long for some of the same coins to show up in boxes newly re-wrapped in my bank box order. Some banks want the coins rolled; others want to run them through their coin counters. I think some banks/credit unions turn in their excess coins rapidly, while other branches just put them in their vault.
Since I don't live in a metro area, I think most of my local banks use the same Brinks service to bring coins back to their local Fed Depot. Or, do they just re-wrap them at their local Brinks facility, and get more coins from the Fed Depot as needed? If I dump in a area farther away from my local area, I wonder if Brinks will be going to a different Brinks facility/Fed depot so I don't get my coins re-wrapped?
What method do some of you folks use for your dumps?

| I suspect that I am getting the same halves over and over again. so I marked one to see if it shows it face again. but a few weeks ago I got 158 40's out of 2 boxes so I ain't ready to stop yet. I am just gonna spread out and search other denominations of coin. trying to get a nickel bag(of nickels) but they seem to be slow filling up. |

If someone could explain or post a link that explains the route the coins take when we order them from bank that'd be nice. Like, is it brinks, loomis etc that wraps and stores them , or do they get them from yet another location.
Also, When I order boxes of halves from wells fargo and chase I always get a brown cardboard box with yellow lettering, and the halves are wrapped in white paper with black lettering and stripes on the top/bottom. Does the packaging usually indicate what company my bank got them from - or is there some other way.
THanks!
The wrappers are not made by the armored car services (usually), but by a third-party manufacturer. So, the packaing will not tell you where the coins come from. Ask the tellers what armored car service they use. ;) |

| vrbs, does the box have holes in the bottom to confirm the count? If so, that is Loomis. I am like slick, I get a good Brinks box every so often too. (never got 158 outta 2 though, jeesh!) |

Yes, those are the CRN CWF or something boxes made by a company that specializes in nothing but coin boxes and other paraphernalia. Same thing with Strings. They make the wrappers that everyone uses. Other than Brinks, which started as a delivery service and now has actual bank branches, apparently, most bank chains use a thrid-party coin/cash delivery service or "armored car service", whether it be Brinks, Loomis, Wells Fargo, Guarda, or one of the many others. Unless you ask the tellers which armored car service they use, I don't think you can tell from the box. I got a Brinks box along with a few "holey" boxes the other day. The teller didn't know how they got it. It was sealed. |
