Of all my silver finds I thought I would never find a 1970-D 40% silver half in rolls, but I did!! This was a mint set only issue and is scarce. Has anyone else found this date? I got it from my favorite bank for silver and I'm trying to make a deal that I will buy all the halves that come in thru the coin counting machine. Any tips on how to make such a deal with the bank?

nice find.

you need to talk to the teller who is responsible for the vault. tell her you will buy those from her and for her to call you when they fill a bag. Most places are lucky if they fill a bag of halves in a year. i have had some luck by bringing some of my dumps to top off their bags but i ticked some folks off when i did that once - the lazy tellers don't like having to change the bags so they don't like folks to come in to top them off.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

I have 2 - 1970s but no 1970d. I'm looking in the red book and it says that the 1970s is a proof. The 1970d isn't in the proof column but its listed at $20.00(MS-63) and my 1970s are listed as $16.00(PF-65). I think the difference is that your coin was available in mint sets and my coin was available in proof sets. I'm not sure about that though. Both are great coins. Its amazing what you can sometimes find in loose coins. I got a 1955 Franklin from a teller than sold me $3.50 in halves.

Bad economic times seem to bring out the silver/NIFC's sitting in old coin jars and busted up mint and proof sets. I found a 1980-S proof half dollar. I thought it was silver because it still had a "bright" look to it even though it had plenty of scuff marks on it. Now is the best time to roll search!! Good luck to all in their hunt!!
