I sold my 40% halves for $1.50 each. They were sold to a business so there were no fees. I figure I did ok. Silver is trading at $1.87 an ounce. I had been to one auction where I had placed a price of $1600 for the lot (809 halves). There were no bids and no counter offers. I had been negotiating with the guy that bought them for about a week. His original offer was $1.00 per halve. I got 3x face but I figure it was a fair deal. It took me from sept of 2008 til now to accumulate those halves. If I had went the ebay route, there would have been fees. Do y'all think I did ok?

Yeah, should try forum first, you'll get a better deal (for both parties. Then most other routes.

Could have got about $1485 total after fees and shipping if you sold 800 of them on BullionDirect's Nucleo Exchange right now. That's $1.85 a piece, about a $285 difference for the lot.

I wanted the extra money to continue the search for better coins. Yeah, I could have gotten more selling them over the net, but I place a value on convenience, and all I had to do was drive one mile to sell the coins. No packaging, or shipping. But anyway, thanks for the better ideas.

I agree that convenience is worth something, but the $285 extra you could have gotten (already factoring in the 1% Nucleo fee and $20 to ship) is a full 40 hour week at minimum wage...

4 guys are leaning over the fence to watch their neighbor work on a project. All four of them are gonna say..."Thats exactly the same way I would do it". NOT.

I was sincere when I said thanks for the advice. Next time, I will check here.

I'm preparing a package to ship off myself- safe got full and I don't want to bury them in the outhouse LOL. Selling local is best but local=lowball for ME so having a trusted buyer out of state is just as well. I got a PM from a guy on Goldismoney this morning looking to sell some, want ME to send him over here? My guy buys mine as a favor I think. HH Mark

67% return on your investment is darn good on anything,I have accumulated a lot of 40% silver myself not the luster of 90% but as long as your pulling it from the bank its not bad when I average 30 to forty dollars in silver a bag and you figure it takes about 45 min to do its like making over thirty bucks an hour and I happen to have job where I go to the bank everyday so for me it really makes sense

Hey as long as you're happy with the profit you made on the sale, you did alright. I gather that you got all of these at face value? Then you made a nice little profit without the hassle of shipping and collecting payment and such, so well done.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Periods. Periods. Periods. Period....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
