It was just a 1967 Kennedy (40% silver), but it was exciting nonetheless. I don't search through rolls of Kennedy Halves like some of you guys do, but when at the bank, I do pay close attention to the Kennedy halves in the tellers' coin tray. Sometimes I even ask if any of their halves are from the 60s. Anyway today I didn't have to ask as I could clearly see "67" as the last two digits of the date of the lone Kennedy in the tray. Its surprising how buying a coin worth $2.00 for 50 cents can make your day.

Congrats. But be careful. The next thing you know you'll be asking for a roll, then two. Then you're hooked. It keeps going until soon you're up to a box a week, then two, then who knows?

I suggest you head for a rehab right away.

Nice job. I love finding them at the bank in trays better than in rolls.

You are right. Finding a 50 cent coin worth $2 makes your day.

Then who knows? I know, you'll wake up one day and realize your up to 42 a week. It's taken months of theropy and hard work to curb this addiction to just under 30 a week. From time to time I catch myself thinking "Come on, 6 more boxes won't hurt ya".

Next thing you know you'll start doing these silly pennies. Then you'll be getting a machine to sort them. Then you'll be buying security and camera systems and flood/fire protection for them. Then you'll be buying guns and ammo to protect them. (this might be the first step, or the last. You never know. )

Actually I'm already sorting pennies. I'm still a hand sorter so I can't do much more than a box a week. As others have pointed out here its relaxing; great to do while watching T.V. or listening to the radio. I was actually dumping zincs when I noticed the silver Kennedy.

I was thinking that its hard to believe that this coin went undiscovered for over 40 years; especially considering that silver hit $50 per ounce briefly in 1980. Judging from its better-than-average condition, I'd say it spent most of its life in a drawer somewhere. My find and the fact that some of you guys are still turning up Walkers and Franklins is testament to how little some people know about currency.

P.S. Great to have to site back!

or someone's wife or kid went and spent that coin so you could find it. Good job, and while you are in the bank anyway why not buy all their 1/2s. They are fun to spend as tips and small purchases.
