This morning when i got to work i decided I was going to go over to the US mint store here in DC and buy some as much gold as i could with the money I have saved from scrap/trash collection. (Not allot $370 worth, but still it is the priciple of turning trash into gold!) The only issue is when i went to the web site i noticed none of the gold/ silver products are available. Then I called them this morning and they don't have anything at the Mint store in Union Station. is this just a period between the 2008-2009 issues? or is this evidence of a shortage?
The mint cut a lot of its gold coin production lines in theory because it was having trouble keeping up with the demand of the "staple" gold coins. Specifically they wanted to concentrate on producing 1 oz Eagles.
I checked and currently dealers have 1 oz Eagles in stock and ready to ship. Other 2009 US gold coins are missing in action...
