This auction is for 40 Standing Liberty Quarters. Dates range from 1925 to 1930.

These quarters have been stored since 1966. They were part of an estate.

I am not a coin person, but will try to answer any questions you may have.

i've bought off of feebay as well, but whenever I've bought barber's or merc's or standing liberty's i've always gotten coins that had a lot of wear. The last purchase I made was a roll of mercs. When I stacked those 50 mercs next to 50 rosie's it looked like the merc stack was about 4 coins short of 50. I decided then that I would stick to the rosies, washington's, franklin's and kennedy's. My favorite are probably the franklin's though some of those can sometimes have some wear on them.

However, since apmex is selling rolls of standing liberty's for about $170 plus shipping I think you did GREAT.

Think you did pretty good, not as well as I just did on some French 5 francs (bang on spot price, and they aren't bad condition at all) I'd love to get some American junk silver but shipping costs are high to the UK

Thank you! I am somewhat new to this. I score once in a while. Being good at searches helps- the cream is grabbed often the 1st few hours of a listing. Sometimes coins are mislisted. Then there are sellers that get abstract the way they divide it up. Most shoppers thing in rolls- and the better it is spelled out- the better chance of a quick sale. I know if I have to think to add- I move on. Maybe I shouldnt but there are many vendors.

If you were buying just for silver content than you paid way to much. Comes out to 12.9 times face which comes to a little over $18 an ounce.

However if you were buying for numismatic values than you MAY have done ok. It depends on the if the dates are readable and if they are in decent shape.

If you have any questions feel free to ask here before you buy

Quick question for those that were collecting in the mid 60's. Were these type of quarters that worn usually? I wouldnt expect it.

Just a thought.

My dad was 16 in 1966 and his standing liberties from his childhood collection are just as worn. Since people didn't have debit or credit cards in the 30s/40s, cash and coin had a much higher velocity and got worn more quickly.

You do have to consider when buying silver coins minted for general circulation, that the wear on the coins will diminish the actual amounts of silver in the coins. Those cons look quite worn, so they may have lost a fair bit of their silver value. The less worn lightly circulated coins I'm buying will be very close to what they were first minted with.
