Several of my order / source banks have begun charging me a handling fee of $5 or $10 per M even with account open...OK with me..my dump bank charges $10 M to buy, but takes unlimited back... Hit 5 banks on the road today...I agree with those who say the highest hits are teller drawers and hand rolled returns..today at one bank, they had only 2 halves, one a 64. I always buy everything they have and look at none of it till later..unlike someone else who told exactly what they do with the coin, I say nothing unless asked, then only that my kids like em..I DO NOT want to give any tellers any more education than they need. haha My beginners luck was $88 of hand rolled, yielding a morgan, 2 walkers, 6 JFK 90s, and 2 1/2 rolls of 40%..I told my wife it is probably down hill from there..but what a hoot..
We average 4 boxes a week and my wife is as excited to crack em open as I am..better than bingo..
Been lurking for a long time, just joined and started posting actually, looking for help running my Brandt 6500/ Mach 7 see other posts for that..

| Tomorrow I am calling several armoured car companies that service the banks here in town to see if I can buy halves direct from them...anyone try that? How'd it go? |

They usually want fees too.. and want a commercial address to deliver to. Worth a try for larger orders. |

| The trick is to buy from the banks that charge their fees on coin deposits, and sell to the ones that charge coin buyers. Live fee free or die! (is that not the quote on som elicense plate?) |

My last $500 half box yield zero, zilch, nada, goose egg! Ugh...
Then I go to another bank and one teller has a two dollars in halves, I get them, and three are 40% silver.
Also, I still avoid several banks that get pennies from a certain carrier because they have all been presorted with all the copper stripped from them.
I have to wonder if the Mint is filling the pinch yet with all the cooper being sucked out of circulation. Has anyone heard anything on this?

| At this point I'm not being charged for halves or pennies but that could change any day I am sure. It all would depend on the volume. |

| I have a chance to buy from a Dunbar serviced bank, but they want their $ a week ahead. Just when I get ready to give up on Brinks, I get $16.50 face of 40% and 2 90%s out of one box....jeesh....the only constant is inconsistancy, the only cure is persist"ancy". 8 more boxes of mixed ordered for this week from various suppliers. Still buying silver off the street at 6 to 9 x face. |

Copper Catcher.. Glad to hear you aren't being charged for boxes either.. that would wipe out any potential gain. You may want to give those Brinks Boxes of pennies another try. They stopped doing the sorting when the price of copper tanked. I haven't gotten a single dud box in several months. |
