I've noticed something with nickel boxes, at least here in my area. The 2 types of $100 boxes I've been able to get are Brinks and NF String. I've noticed that, regardless of the name on the box, I always seem to get only 1 war nickel or 1 buffalo nickel per box. It's always only one, and it's always either a war nickel or a buffalo nickel, never both in the same box. To date, I have collected 3 buffalo nickels and 5, 6, or 7 war nickels (I have to check my safe deposit box where I keep them for the exact number). Has anyone else noticed this? I know there are posts here from forum members who have gotten more than 1 buffalo or war nickel out of the same box, it just hasn't happened to me. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if there's anything I can do to increase my odds of getting more than 1 buffalo or war nickel per box. Thanks.

I've never noticed. I have and only 1 Buffalo from multiple boxes. All my boxes have been NF String here in Indy. |

I avg less then 1 wn per box, and 1 buffalo about every 5 boxes or so. Maybe every 6.
You run good at nickels.
They really not worth searching for those only. But nickels wear hard. So there maybe other yrs you could save. I think Jeffersons will be valuable some day. Especially the key dates. I would save some of the stuff listed in this thread also..

This is guaranteed to change your usual findings, buy a Powerball or State lottery ticket with your next box. I assure you that this will change what you find (I'm just not sure if it will be for the better or for the worse).

Thanks for the replies everyone. Tourney, I'm in Chicago. Oober, I already save all s mint nickels (regardless of condition), all nickels dated before 1964 (again, regardless of condition), and any foreign coins I find in the box (I've found a few 99.99% Ni Canadians as well as a few other misc. foreign coins). |
