Dimes, Qwarters, Half Dollars, and Eisenhower Dollars all have the same rating at coinflation.com
Does anyone here save these in bulk?
I've begun to save all my change, but I've only just begun. I also bought up a few Eisenhower dollars from a local coin shop. I paid $1.20 for these dollars.
Peace!

I do.
Its an easy way for me to save money.
Not as easy to spend 100.00 in the Kennedy clads as it is a 100.00 FRN.
I also get Susan B's and the Sacagawea 1.00 coins as well as the new Pres. 1.00 also have a few of the Eisenhower 1.00 but not as many as SBA and SAC.
Its a good way to save but still wont mind to part with when time comes.
I can get all from the bank at face except for the IKE dollars and i have found a few silver Kennedys searching the rolls.

I would jump at Ikes at face value. As much as I hate to say it, Susan Bs being the last clad dollars might be worth saving too.
The days of clad coins are numbered too. I would rather put my money into pennies, nickels, or silver at this time though. However, a $500 box of half dollars would be a good way to hold on to the collectable coins and a cash stash too.

When SHTF and the public knows USD isn't worth anything, people will still use and accept quarters, and susan b's and half dollars, at least for a little while. Whatever you are going to hoard it is a good idea to have at least $100.00 in clad change lying around for the first few weeks of SHTF.

I have a couple hundred Ikes.. about half of them bicentennials. My bank sets them aside for me for when I come in. I generally sell them for $1.10 each.

As to hoarding just regular coins, no way. I was one of the idiots that got caught up in the Bicentennial Quarter frency that the government created as a fantastic new coin to be saved. I had hundreds and hundreds of them in almost Mint state condition. A freind of mine had thousands and thousands of the stupid things. After about 30 years of hoarding them we both tried to sell some at coin shows and coin dealers. Offered 0.25 each regardless of condition and usually told don't want any but how would you like to buy some? Ended up taking to a bank, putting in a savings account. After 30 years in a savings account there would have at least been some interest. I learned my lesson about hoarding coins that EVERYONE else is hoarding. The new dollar coins, I don't even have one.

Is anyone else here of the mind that the half dollar will be discontinued or demonetized by the end of the decade? The only thing that kept the half dollar alive were casinos, and they've all gone to coinless machines now, dealing only with paper tickets or electronic cards. I feel the half dollar is an endangered species, so I'm filling some Whitman folders while I still can.

I'm surprised that they held on this long.. Maybe they can recycle the 1/2 dollar coin blanks into $5.00 pieces.

thanks for the ideas guys...it had never occurred to me to collect ike dollars and clad half dollars for their eventual numismatic value. it sounds like a new way to diversify.
