So, it's not that great but I struck my first gold tonight. The machine starts making a not good grinding sound. I stop it and proceed to empty it. All wound up and intertwined in three of the holes is a very dainty gold necklace. The machine basically ground it up into a big knotted mess. I can however see the 10k stamp on the clasp. It weighs a whopping .4 grams! Oh well, gold is gold. Just had to share.

Deal

*Running my last bag. Several dimes. Including a nice '37 Mercury! Fourth silver ever for me, second Mercury. First one was unreadable. Wow, when it rains it pours....

What machine? Your Ryedale? If so, how in the world did a necklace find its way in there? Great find by the way.

Yep, Ryedale. I pour the bags into a pitcher. Then I pour the pitcher into the hopper. It had to have been poured in and it got all messed up. It is very dainty. Maybe I can scan it....

p.s. Not my necklace.

Gold $897.30 per troy ounce

10kt or .417

$12.03 per gram

$12.03 x 4 grams = $48.12

Nice...

I think there is a decimal before the 4 (.4 grams). Which is less than 1/2 a gram. Still a great find though!! Gold has been struck. Has anyone else found gold while searching cents, that we know of? This could be a 1st.

Nice!!!

Here's the best scan I could take. Not much, but it is solid 10k as the mark is clearly readable in person. Pretty funny that less than $5 worth of something can get us excited. I'm glad my dad was over when I found it. He was just as excited. Like I said, it's not much. Several pieces is the best I could do, and there are still some knots in it. Maybe 18" total.

Nice find for a bag of pennies!
Two dimes is my best so far in a bag of pennies, a bent pin was my worst.
I hand sort, no Ryedale (yet).
I dump my bags out now.

Honestly I don't know what the deal is. I hear about all these "Silver Santa" visits everyone gets and listen with envy. I guess it's kinda my turn. I would love to have this happen to everyone. Nothing special really from pennies up until a few months ago. Then, BAMM. Oh well, I'll take 'em when I can get 'em.
