You have to read this:
"I grabbed some doo-dads out of the junk drawer and some gold spray-paint out of the garage."
"Incredible! They really do pay cash for gold, and not just real gold... any gold at all!"

Seems like a lot of work to commit mail fraud. That's what this idiot is doing and posting his picture all over the web. This guy is a MORON! If Gold Kit can afford to spend millions on TV ads, think what they can afford to do to this guy with thier lawyers.
You must be logged in to see this link. I grabbed some doo-dads out of the junk drawer and some gold spray-paint out of the garage. Soon I had a gold bottle cap, a gold stem from a bunch of grapes, a gold pop-top, a gold zip-tie, a gold 'S' hook, a gold nut and the elusive gold nickel. In all, a nice sack of treasure!
"Mail fraud refers to any scheme which attempts to unlawfully obtain money or valuables in which the postal system is used at any point in the commission of a criminal offense. Mail fraud is covered by 18 United States Code, Chapter 63. As in the case of wire fraud, this statute is often used as a basis for a separate federal prosecution of what would otherwise have been only a violation of a state law. "Mail fraud" is a term of art referring to a specific statutory crime in the United States of America. Other nations may have similar crimes, but not all countries do, and the elements required to prove this crime will vary in each jurisdiction."

The nut cases are ruining this forum. One guy wants to sort through $400,000 of half dollars in order to get a few hundred clad silver halves. Another says that depleted uranium is used to make fake bullion coins even though the cost of doing this is higher than selling a real gold coin. Plus the fake that the fake coin would be RADIOACTIVE.

| I laughed out loud when I saw the goofy look on the guy's face with the cheque in his hand. I can see the argument that he set himself up for fraud charges by painting the objects he sent in (and documenting the process on the internet to boot) but I'm not sure the same would be true if he had just sent in some cheap costume jewelry with no gold content. In the latter case it would be more plausible to argue that he thought the jewelry might contain gold, and assumed the buyer would reject it if it didn't. |

I don't always agree with everything said here, but everyone has the right to their opinion. Some, if not most, people would think we ALL are nut cases for doing what we do. If differing thoughts and opinions are your reason for leaving, I'm sorry. I hate to see someone leave that has been here so long over somethings that I see as trivial. Hope you don't leave, but if you do take it easy and good luck.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

I would guess that Goldkit is also selling their "customers" address information for a fairly good price, and is including some sort of token payment for that.
The second part is a guess, the first part is a certainty. |
Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead? |

Good point. It would be interesting to see the fine print related to that check. Maybe, by cashing it, you just agreed to receive 100 years of SPAM mail, e-mail, and phone calls. |

I too would hate to see CuproNickel go. We have very little "bad blood" among members here. Just for the record, a member can't delete their own account. I can do that for them though. We have had members in the past who have requested that. Sometimes you may see posts made by N/A, that's mostly them. They can still return if they wish. If your account is locked then you won't be able to return. |

I believe the point is that if they melted and assayed the stuff like they say they do they would know there was no gold then there would have been NO check. As for your next post down- you sir are rude!!! I must be one of the nutcases, make that super nutcase cause I went through more than $800K in halves last year. For all the agrevation, gas I was burning anyways, and hours spent NOT watching TV I got 920 ozt for my trouble. HH Mark |

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you didn't have $800,000 tied up in half dollars at any one given time. |

A little info on Lippincott & the gold kit-
Some years back I tried to melt down some 14K charms in hopes of making my own charm. It didn't quite work out the way I had hoped. I kept the melted mess (total weight about 2 ounces) and sold the whole thing to Lippincott via the Gold kit. I did so since I was a bit embarrassed to sell the gold to a jeweler and get ridiculed for my efforts.
Lippincott bought the melted gold & assayed it, and sent me a check for about half of what the gold would have sold for had I not tried to be my own jeweler.
Lippincott isn't out a whole lot of money on this guy's fake gold (in page two of the story he recieved a check for one dollar and one cent, a big check for junk.) I suspect they sent the check to him in hopes that he will consider selling gold to them in the future.
Postal Fraud? Yes. Worth persuing? For one dollar and one cent, no. Lippincott would be the one to press charges if they thought there was fraud, but for one dollar and one cent, an amount they willingly sent the guy, along with a letter stating that none of the stuff they recieved was gold (you have to read page 2 of the story to get the whole story) I doubt Lippincott would bother.
The postal inspectors would not get involved in this instance unless Lipincott contacted them, but since Lipincott knew the stuff was fake per their letter sent along with the check, then there is no case in this case.
Still, the guy is an idiot for sending in gold painted junk AND boasting about it on the net since there will be copycats who will try to pull the same stunt. |

If you are referring to the Gold Kit story you have to go to the bottom of the story to find the Next Page link.
