I went to dump some hand rolled pennies the other day, and asked if there was an easier way to do it. The teller told me that they could take them loose if I sorted the change first.
It turns out that they do not have a counter, they have a wrapper. They took my bag of loose coins, wrapped them, counted them and then paid me. I think that this bank has several branches that do this.
